Black Diamond Spike Protector

A protective spike cover designed to shield pack fabric, rope, and adjacent gear from ice axe spike contact during approach carries and equipment storage, the Spike Protector from Black Diamond uses an 85% TPU/15% elastic construction that stretches to fit nearly all standard ice axe spike profiles without requiring size selection. TPU resists puncture from the spike point while the elastic content provides the stretch-fit retention needed to stay seated on varied spike geometries during active carrying. At 13g with a stretch-fit design rated to accommodate nearly all spike profiles, the Spike Protector addresses the sustained abrasion damage that an unsheathed spike creates on pack fabric and rope over a full season of alpine approach use.
