Chateau Ausone 2016

Ausone takes its name from the Gallo-Roman poet Decimius Magnus Ausonius who is believed to have lived on the estate in the fourth century AD.  The vineyards sit atop limestone, much of which was mined in the building of Bordeaux.  This left a network of tunnels that are used today to cellar the wines.   Ausone is one of four wines classified as Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé 'A', a distinction it shares with Cheval Blanc, Pavie and Angelus.
